abbaCare is a community service which supports people with a disability and/or mental illness to live in their own community. Services provided by abbaCare focus on what our participants can do rather than what they cannot do. AbbaCare’s Lifestyle Facilitators are our Support Workers.
The position of an abbaCare Lifestyle Facilitator is hands-on and involves providing support to people of all ages. The role includes assisting with personal care, daily living and light household tasks and accessing the community.

Position Outline
You will provide participants with services that promote independence, enhance quality of life, empower, and provide opportunities for choice, control, self-advocacy and becoming a valued member of the community. The role is rewarding but it is not always easy, and you will need the capacity to be flexible, strong, and resilient in sometimes challenging situations.
Experience working in the community service and mental health industries is a standout bonus and will capture our attention. Your positive attitude and willingness to go the extra mile to provide the best possible service may include excellent penalty rates working evenings and weekends with a range of participants who will have their own individual personalities and needs.
Our onboarding process is thorough to ensure you are provided with the best possible employment experience and will empower you with knowledge to perform the role, particularly if you are new to the industry.
You will need:

A current Working with Children’s and NDIS worker Screening check and a current Driver’s License.

You will also be required to complete the NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission Worker Orientation Module or provide evidence of completion.

The successful candidates will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia.

Be able to work all shifts including sleepovers

Current First Aid Certificate

COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate

Experience in monitoring clients and reporting behavioural or health changes an advantage

Experience with providing personal care, including the use of mobility aids an advantage
